I am beyond excited to present, in collaboration with the NeueHouse Caring Futures Initiative, an original performance and short film by Coyote Park. Maps Bleed Like Veins Do is a 2Spirit (trans & Indigenous) remapping of California through self portraiture, film, and writing. Coyote Park utilizes land and body relationships in their photographic work to honor their roots, envision the way they mold their own transformation like clay from the earth, and come home. From Tongva lands, where their family currently lives, to their ancestral homelands in the Redwoods: Park documents their body in space as a route inwards. Park guides the audience through woven stories that include re-imaginings of folk stories, tales of metamorphosis, and poetics. My boyfriend Coyote, my girlfriend Bambi is an experimental short that documents Park’s journey through a series of camcorder footage. The audio is a conversation between themself, documenting the love that they have found through a journey of shapeshifting.
